JI announces to observe August 16, as Palestine Day

ISLAMABAD. Shocked over United Arab Emirate (UAE) and Israel ‘peace agreement’ Jamaat Islami (JI) has announced to observe August 16, 2020 as Palestine Day. JI chief, Sirajul Haq , announced to observe August 16, 2020 as Palestine Day to express solidarity with Palestinian people who are struggling for decades for their independent state ,besides end to illegal occupation by Israel of their legitimate territory. In a media statement issued by JI on August 14..Independence Day…Sirajul Haq appealed to the nation to join JI rally in a big way to reject UAE- Israel peace agreement and stand with their Palestinian brothern to support their cause. JI chief strongly condemned UAE for signing anti Palestine agreement for normalisation of relations with Israel and called it an act of betrayal to Palestianian people. He said UAE’s August 13 2020 act tantamount to stabbing the Muslim Ummah in the back. Sirajul Haq urged upon the Muslim countries to reject UAE-Israel peace agreement and stand with Palestinian brothern for helping them to get their legitimate rights of a Palestian state in their legitimate territory and end to illegal settlements in of Jewish community in the West Bank. Meanwhile, Pakistan has issued its official reaction on UAE-Israel peace agreement and reiterated its fundamental position of supporting Palestine cause for getting their legitimate right of an independent state. The Foreign Office, in its statement issued on August 14,2020 said “Pakistan support 2 -state solution to ensure lasting peace in the Middle East”. The Foreign Office further said Pakistan acknowledge Palestinian people struggle for their legitimate right of independent state and believe the peace in Middle East was linked with the wishes of Palestinian people of getting their homeland. Defence expert, Col( R) Ali Mir, in his comments on UAE-Israel peace agreement of August 13, 2920 said the new agreement may serve to the United State and Israel but it will worsen peace in the Middle East. He was of the view that the peace of the Middle East was directly linked to a just and peaceful solution to Palestine- Israel conflict. He opined a 2-state solution is only option to ensure durable and lasting.peace in the Middle East.
