Islamabad — Syed Hasnain Ibrahim Kazmi, Advocate Supreme Court of Pakistan, delivered an insightful address to a distinguished audience comprising Parliamentarians from the National and Provincial Assemblies, Senators, senior officers of the National Assembly, Provincial Assemblies, Senate, and the Ministry of Law.
The gathering also included representatives from various government departments, members of civil society, international NGOs such as the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), and the International Parliamentarians Congress.
Speaking on the theme “Identifying Legislative Gaps to Implement the Conventions of International Humanitarian Law,” Mr. Kazmi emphasized the urgent need for Pakistan to bridge the gap between its international commitments and domestic legal frameworks. He stressed that legislative reforms must not only incorporate global humanitarian obligations but also ensure robust enforcement mechanisms.
Mr. Kazmi commended Pakistan’s ratification of key international conventions, while urging lawmakers and policymakers to accelerate efforts toward institutionalizing compliance through clear, actionable laws. His address received appreciation from the audience for its pragmatic approach and call to legislative action.
