KHUSHAB. Historically, Khushab is among the most peaceful districts. Its people love to respect others and get respect in return. This culture makes the district of 1.4 million population unique in Punjab. Since Khushab is in abudent in precious minerals it has always been a target of outlaws to make its key mines their operational base and target its people for their unlawful activities.
A few years ago , some gangs of terrorists mostly Afghans managed to occupy Piari mine to start their unlawful activities like kidnapping for ransom , drug peddling and docaities.
Slowly and gradually , these gangs added local pathans in their gangs and expanded their unlawful activities.
Killings of the locals and docaities started to become order of the day in the area. The terrorists gangs had become so powerful and deadly that they started to attack local womens who come to a darbar close to Piari mine.
The terrorists had established their own Jirga system in the area by challenging writ of the state. Now Piari mine area was a no go area for the locals. Only terrorists had control over the area and they were free to use the mine area as a base to carry on their drug peddling and other henious activities.
The situation finally attracted the attention of the law enforcing agencies. Khushab police conducted several operations to get vacated Piari mine from dreadful terrorists who by the time had turned into a monster. The police operations could not yield desired result as the terrorists manged to dodge the raiding parties each time.
In some raids, the police retreated with some of their jawans injured.
Finally, a bold police officer, SSP. .Mohammad Naveed , got assignment of district police officer (DPO) Khushab in March this year.
Mihammad Naveed had experience of conducting difficult operations against hard core terrorists like the one who were occupying Piari mine. He was given the task of eliminating the terrorists from Piari mine and get the area vacated at any cost.
Mohammad Naveed, the bold police officer, had full backing of Inspector General (IG) Punjab , Inam Ghani .and DIG Sargodha range, Ashfaq Khan, for this difficult task .
Since Mohammad Naveed had conducted several operation in Kohistan district, he quickly came in action. He formed a good combination of swift police raiding team and launched a decisive operation against the terrorists at Piari mine and made it a success this time.
The bold DPO personally monitored the operation till it became successful at Piati mine.
The terrorists inflicted loss of lives and fled from Piari mine. The evacuation of Piari mine from the terrorists is a great success of Khushab police. It will help restore peace of Khushab district again.
Now a national flag along with Punjab police flag waves at Piari mine .
DPO Khushab and other police raiding party vowed on Tuesday to protect Piari mine and other areas from the terrorists no matter what price it costs to the local police.
