Lahore Qalanders beats Multan Sultan, lands in playoff stage

RAWALPINDI: March ,4, 2023: Rashid Khan’s excellent bowling in the eighth edition of the Pakistan Super League, fired Lahore Qalandars into the playoff stage of the event as it defeated Multan Sultans by 21 runs on Saturday.

In the 20th match of the eighth edition of the Pakistan Super League played in Lahore, Lahore Qalandars won the toss and invited Multan Sultans to bowl.

Lahore Qalandars’ innings was not good and Fakhar Zaman returned to the pavilion without opening the account in the first over.

Abdullah Shafiq came to support Mirza Tahir Baig and they both set up a 50 -run partnership and provided a good basis to their team, but on the same score, Tahir Beg became Ehsanullah’s wicket after scoring 17 runs.
Abdullah Shafiq batted responsibly with the other end and paved the way for a big score by contributing 69 runs with the new batsman Sam Billings.

Abdullah Shafiq scored 48 and Billings scored 54 off 35 balls, but in the closing overs, the Qalandars team failed to score fast due to the bowlers’ bowlers of Multan Sultans and continued to score wickets from time to time.

The Lahore Qalandars team scored 180 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the stipulated overs.

Anwar Ali, Ehsanullah, Abbas Afridi and Kieron Pollard took two wickets each from Multan Sultans.
Shan Masood was the first player to be out to return to the pavilion after scoring 19 runs.

Mohammad Rizwan, the highest scorer in the tournament, also played 30 runs this time, but before he was dangerous for Qalandars, Sikandar Raza completed his work.

Osama Mir was sent to the upper numbers for batting, but Rashid Khan, after being dismissed for him, also operated David Miller in the same over and did two damage to the Sultans.

Sultans were not even able to handle the loss that Rashid Khan bowled the Royal Russo in his next over and overturned the match.

After that, the Sultans were under constant pressure due to the rising run rate and Karen Pollard was scored 159 for seven in the stipulated overs despite the 39 -run innings.
