Massive tax shortfall: important Members, Chief Commissioners reshuffled

Islamabad: The Premier Shahbaz Sharif led coalition government has reshuffled the high officials in the both service groups of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) including Member IR Operation and three key Chief Commissioners of Large Taxpayer Offices after massive short fall in tax collection.

The FBR has faced massive short fall worth Rs196 billion during the first four months of the current fiscal year.

After the short fall, the government brought key changes to achieve tax collection target for the current fiscal year. The govt had give target of tax collection of Rs12,970 billion by June 30, 2025.

The FBR made transfer/ postings of 18 senior officials of Inland Revenue officials (BS-20/21). The government has transferred and posted 7 officers of grade 21 including Members, Chief Commissioners.

The Govt has appointed Hamid Ateeq Sarwar as new FBR Member (IR) Operations. Currently, he was performing as Member (IR-Policy).

Mir Badshah Khan Wazir has been assigned a new assignment as FBR Member Legal (IR). The Board has posted Najeeb Ahmad Memon as Member (Policy) FBR.

The Board has transferred Sajidullah Siddiqui from the post of Chief Commissioner, Large Taxpayers Office, Karachi and posed as Member FBR. Tariq Arbab Member Legal-IR Wing was assigned Post of Director General, Broadening of Tax Base, FBR.

Ishtiaq Ahmed Khan, Chief Commissioner, LTO, Islamabad, has been posted as Member FBR. Zubair Bilal Chief Commissioner (OPS), Large Taxpayers Office, Lahore, has been posted as Chief

Commissioner (OPS), Large Taxpayers Office, Karachi. Sajjad Taslim Azam, Chief Commissioner (OPS), Regional Tax Office, Multan has been transferred as new assignment as Chief Commissioner Inland Revenue (OPS), Large Taxpayers Office, Lahore.

Zain-ul-Abidin Sahi, Chief Information Technology, FBR (Hq), Islamabad, to Chief Commissioner, Large Taxpayers Office, Islamabad and Hassan Zulfiqar (Inland Revenue Service/BS-20) has been given charge Chief Commissioner (OPS), Corporate Tax Office, Islamabad.

The FBR transferred 35 top officials, including Ashraf Ali (Pakistan Customs Service/BS-19-20).
