Islamabad : The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) drive against corruption and recovery of state assets, during the 2nd quarter of 2026 has continued with added vigour and impactful outcomes. The most noticeable aspect has been relentless recovery of precious state land measuring over 1,078,283 acres in Balochistan, Sindh, Punjab and ICT. The total quantum of direct/ indirect recoveries of 2nd quarter, has surged to Rs. 2,452 billions (Rs 2.45 Tn) that takes the six-monthly recovery tally of 2026 to Rs. 5,414 billions (Rs. 5.41 Tn), which remains the highest ever 6 monthly recovery figures.
NAB (Sukkur) has stood out with highest recovery figures. In collaboration with BoR Sindh and Secretary Forest, NAB (Sk) recovered 853,678 acres of NHA/ forest / irrigation deptt land worth Rs. 1.01 trillion and got it mutated in favour of provincial government.
NAB (Balochistan) has recovered 209,544 acres of forest land including prime natural reserves like Hingol National Park across the coastal highway and Gwadar Industrial Estate Development Authority (GIEDA) land, worth Rs. 604.64 billion.
NAB (Karachi) has recovered 11,422 acres of illegally allotted state land and dubious leases to housing societies / individuals worth Rs. 467.11 billion.
NAB (Lahore) has recovered 1,909 acres of land worth Rs. 288.29 billion pertaining to PCBL and state land. NAB (Isb / Rwp) has recovered 810 acres of land worth Rs. 66.63 billion pertaining to CDA amenities plots in different housing societies.
NAB (M) has recovered state land measuring 920 acres worth Rs. 2.76 billion.
In cases related to housing and financial fraud, over 24,365 affectees of cheating public at large were compensated by returning their looted money / assets amounting to Rs.42.303 billion. In addition, NAB has completely transitioned to E-Office system through paper-free and automated processes. The bureau is now into its revolutionary transformation phase of switching to AI based E- Investigation regime, which will harness machine learning to detect patterns, prioritize high risk cases and expedite the processes. The AI based investigation mechanism will leave no room for human discretion, enabling AI based analysis / investigation module of oral / documentary evidence leading to evidence based tamper-proof testimony. Further, to cater the training needs of the work force, the Pakistan Anti-Corruption Academy (PACA) has been fully operationalized as a centre of excellence.
NAB reaffirms its resolve to eradicate corruption through expeditious recovery of hard-earned looted money of general public and retrieval of stolen assets of state. The above mentioned state of recoveries is itself speaking about Bureau’s sustained drive against corruption with astounding recovery of Rs. 16,938 billion (Rs. 16.94 trillion) during the period March 2023 to June 2026, a testament to NAB’s zero-tolerance policy against corruption.
The Bureau is determined to eradicate corruption through a blend of deterrence, prevention and public awareness, contributing to a transparent and accountable governance framework in Pakistan.
