NAB rejects allegations of wrongdoing

ISLAMABAD : in a statement issued here on Sundsy, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) clarified the accused not only admits his/ her guilt before the accountability court , but also signs his statement in front of the accountability independently and submit first tranche of the looted money .

It said the  plea bargain is deemed conviction which comes under the domain of article 25-b of NAB Ordinance 1999.

The accused after seeing the proofs and solid evidence collected by NAB voluntarily opts for Plea bargain as he/she  has no other way out for getting out of the case.

NAB deposited all the looted amount recovered from plea bargain in the national exchequer considering it as its national duty.

Moreover, plea bargain is also part of various other countries of the world like USA, UK, Australia and India.

After acceptance of plea bargain, the accused is not eligible to contest election for 10 years. He is also not eligible to get loan from a scheduled bank and his /her company is black listed and if he/she  is govt servant, he/she is terminated from the job after acceptance of his plea bargain by accountability court . Therefore, the impression given in media is not correct that plea bargain is approved by NAB.

The fact is that the plea bargain is approved by the  accountability court on the request of the accused. Moreover, no person has died in NAB custody.

NAB rejects all such media reports and will issue legal notices to all such persons who levelled baseless allegation against NAB and asked them to prove their claims with 14 days otherwise legal proceedings will be initiated against them as per law. Lastly ,

NAB reiterates it’s firm resolve that NAB is human friendly and law abiding organisation. NAB’s remarkable efforts under the leadership of Justice Javed Iqbal Chairman NAB in eradication of corruption have been appreciated by reputed national and international organisations like Transparency International Pakistan, World Economic Forum, PILDAT and Mishal Pakistan.  According to the survey of Gillani and Gallop, 59 percent people have shown trust upon NAB. NAB is the only anti corruption organisation in Pakistan which has recovered Rs. 466 billion from corrupt elements and deposited in the national exchequer and its conviction ratio is about is 68.8 percent which is one of the best conviction ratio as compared to other anti corruption organisations in Pakistan.
