Karachi,July 2026: In a statement issued here on Monday , National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Karachi handed over physical possession of four immovable properties worth Rs.348 million to Director General Estate. The property was confiscated by NAB Karachi from the convicted accused Abdul Aziz Memon, the then MNA, and his Wife who were involved in the offence of corruption and corrupt practices regarding accumulation of assets beyond know sources of income.
The statement maintained that NAB Karachi had successfully conducted inquiry and investigation and subsequently, filed Reference against the said accused and his spouse in the Accountability Court, Sindh at Karachi, which was decided in its judgment whereby Abdul Aziz Memon and his spouse Farida Aziz Memon were convicted by learned Judge Accountability Court No.IV, Sindh at Karachi as under:-
To undergo 7 years rigorous imprisonment (R.I)
Imposed a fine of Rs.1 million each on both the accused persons. Four Properties of the convicts were also confiscated in favour of Govt. of Pakistan
The convicted accused persons filed appeal before the Hon’ble Sindh High Court, Karachi and subsequently before Hon’ble Supreme Court of Pakistan against the sentence, which were dismissed by the Hon’ble Courts, hence, the conviction attained finality.
Consequently, NAB Karachi recovered and took over the physical possession of following four properties of convicted persons:-
House No. 15/I, Street No. 30, Khyaban-e-Shamsher, Phase-V Extension, DHA, Karachi
Plot No. A.-21/4-1, measuring 816.44 Sq. Yards, KDA Scheme-1-A Ext, Karachi
Plot No.B-133, Sector No.11-B at Hawksbay Scheme-42, Layari Development Authority
Plot No.A-59, Sector No.16-C at Hawksbay Scheme-42, Layari Development Authority
The properties are handed over by Mr. Shakeel Ahmed Durrani, Director General NAB Karachi to Mr. Ubaid u Din, Director General Estate, Ministry of Housing & Works, Govt. of Pakisan on 06 July 2026 (today) in a transferral ceremony held at Regional Headquarters NAB Karachi.
According to NAb , Mr. Shakeel Ahmed Durrani, DG NAB (Karachi), reaffirmed the Bureau’s commitment to recover looted money/ assets and returning those to the affected departments and individuals. He further said that under the leadership of Chairman NAB, Lieutenant General (R) Nazir Ahmed, NAB remains committed to combating corruption and corrupt practices with dedication and professionalism. This move demonstrates NAB efforts to hold corrupt officials accountable and recover ill-gotten gains for best interest of public and safeguarding the Govt. exchequer.
