LAHORE: A medical report submitted in the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday claimed that Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) supremo, Nawaz Sharif, was suffering from very complex and complicated disease and hence unable to travel.
The report formally signed by Dr David Lawrence, a cardiothoracic surgeon in London, said Nawaz Sharif can not travel to any country as any such movement could be dangerous for the ‘patient’.
The report submitted with LHC for its review will bring some relief to PMLN supremo and his party in the current situation when British Home Department has already rejected Nawaz Sharif’s request for further stay in London for treatment purpose.
Nawaz Sharif is in London since December 2017 when he was permitted by Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) to travel to London for treatment. Soon after Nawaz Sharif departure from Pakistan, PTI top leadership started to shed doubts on his medical reports considered for permission to leave Pakistan for London.
Prime minister, Imran Khan, too publically doubted that the reports of Nawaz Sharif showing alarming disease and low level of platelets counts was manipulated.
In the given situation, Pakistan officially approached to UK government demanding extradition of Nawaz Sharif. UK rejected Pakistan’s request . But after some months, it also rejected Nawaz Sharif’s request for more stay in London.
The rejection in more stay in London inspired PTI government to again seek extradition of Nawaz Sharif. This development had added to PMLN problems as its leaders were finding it difficult to defend Nawaz Sharif’s request for further stay in London.
Submission of medical report in LHC will give some relief to Sharif family and PMLN as a party at least for some time.
