Rawalpindi : April 27,2024 : The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a warning alert of flood situation with heavy rains in most parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan till April 29.
According to the report, heavy rains, hail and Storms are forecast, which also threaten floods and landslides.
The warning comes at a time when farmers’ crops, especially wheat, are ready and they are harvesting.
Due to prolonged rains in the Potohar region, wheat harvest was delayed, with farmers in the region complaining of an extraordinary increase in the cost of the crop, saying it was higher than last year due to the increase in fuel prices. The Meteorological Department has also warned of the entry of a western system which may worsen the weather conditions till April 30. With the entry of this system, widespread rain and thundershowers are expected over various parts of the country, especially Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Guliyat, Murree, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Note that on April 25, The new series of heavy rains that started with thunder in Balochistan continued on April 26, which created a flood situation. In the border town of Taftan, a person was swept away in a flash flood while a woman and her daughter were injured when a house was struck by lightning. The death toll in rain-related incidents in Balochistan reached 19, while around 250 houses were washed away and 1,850 houses partially damaged. Officials say that 14 highways and connecting roads have been badly affected by the flood, which has suspended traffic between Balochistan and other provinces. Heavy rain with hail and wind is possible.
