ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) vice president , Maryam Nawaz, on Tuesday said Chaudhary Nisar has nothing to do with PMLN as he had won a Punjab assembly seat in last general elections as an independent candidate.
Maryam Nawaz was talking to media after appearing before Islamabad high court in Even Field reference case.
Maryam Nawaz’s statement regarding Chaudhary Nisar’s status in PMLN has many dimensions. For example, the statement shows a clear division in Sharif dynasty . It endorses that Sharif brothers have two different positions and strategies to occupy and run PMLN . None of the two brothers is ready to accomodate each other.
Shahbaz Sharif seems linient towards Establishment to have a working relationship with it whereas Nawaz Sharif is on his declared position of giving hard time to the establishment.
Maryam Nawaz is, of course, strictly following footsteps of her father. She does have support of some hardliner party leaders like Pervez Rashid, Javed Latif and Ihsan Iqbal for her strategy .
Maryam Nawaz’s statement has created new situation for Shahbaz Sharif who is a longtime friend of Chaudhary Nisar. He has to clarify his position vis-a-vis Maryam Nawaz’s statement on Chaudhary Nisar’s status in PMLN.
Chaudhary Nisar had opposed any role for Maryam Nawaz in the party when she got active after Nawaz Sharif’s disqualification from the court in the Even Field case in 2017.
Since then Maryam Nawaz has serious differences with Chaudhary Nisar . Both are not in talking terms for the last many years.
Chaudhary Nisar’s soar relationship with Nawaz Sharif family goes back to 1999 when Nawaz Sharif government was dismissed. Nawaz Sharif’s spouse, Kalsoom Nawaz, always had negative thinking about Chaudhary Nisar. She believed that Chaudhary Nisar’s role was tilted towards establishment that caused to entire Sharif family to leave for Saudi Arabia in 2000.
However, both Nawaz Sharif and Chaudhary Nisar kept on maintaining ‘marriage of conviniance’ to save their political future.
Now Maryam Nawaz is on the frontfoot to convey her vengeance towards Chaudhary Nisar.
Maryam Nawaz also lamented disqualification of her father in the case and demanded that the court should stop hearing into the case till return of Nawaz Sharif. She is taking very shrewd position on the issue. She knows clearly that her father will not be coming back in near future.
To a questioner, she told that there were no her differences with Shahbaz Sharif . She clarified that Shahbaz Sharif’s Monday’s dinner was for parliamentarians in connection to upcoming budget. She said media should not take everything in negative sense.
