No Hajj for common Pakistanis this year again

ISLAMABAD: This year too noone out of Saudi Arabia will be allowed to perform Hajj.

A statement of Director General Hajj Jeddah (Saudi Arabia) , Ibrar Ahmad, issued by Omar Butt, Spokesman of the Ministry of Religious Affairs , said only 60 thousands Saudi nationals and aqamaholders will be allowed to perform Hajj this year.

This is second year in a row when no one out of Saudi Arabia will be allowed to perform Hajj.

Last year too Hajj was restricted to a limited number of Saudi nationals due to COVID-19 pandemic.

Director General Hajj said in his statement on Saturday that restrictions on Hajj for non-Saudis have been imposed by Saudi authorities keeping in view emergence of new variant of COVID -19.

DG Hajj’s statement further said the safety of Hajjies is supreme for Saudi government.

Meanwhile, Saudi Foreign minister spoke to Pakistani counterpart, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, on Saturday on the issue of Hajj restrictions.
