Director General Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), major general Babar Iftikhar, came -up with a clear version on ceasefire with TPP while addressing a press conference at ISPR headquarters.
The DG ISPR said the talks with TPP were initiated on the request of new Afghan government.
According to DG ISPR, the ceasefire with TPP had ended on December 9, 2021. He said Pakistan military was ready to face òff all challenges confronted with Pakistan.
He added that TPP attempted many attacks which were foiled by the law enforcing and security agencies.
Pakistan had held various rounds of talks with TPP in Kabul soon after takeover of Afghan government in Afghanistan and both sides had declared ceasefire for a certain period.
DG ISPR’s clear version on the ceasefire with TPP had loud and clear message that cleared the dust on the controversy for now. It clearly indicated that Pakistan would not go to any settlement or agreement with TPP that could dent its strength .. militarily or otherwise.
The talks with TPP were opposed by certain political quarters in and outside the parliament and the Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) government was feeling difficult to defend it at important fora ,particularly , in the parliament.
The DG ISPR also divulged on various important issues at the press conference. He said Pakistan has completed 94 % work of fence errection at Afghan- Pakistan border and called it a fence of peace. He said the fence was not meant to divide the people, but to protect them. He noted that the work on border fence would be completed.
Babar iftikhar said India has put peace of the region at risk and its ever- changing statements and allegations against Pakistan of intrusion of the Pakistani fighters were suggestive of its agenda.
He rejected talks of deals between the establishment and PPP and advised to keep such fabricated talks away from the military establishment. He suggested to the questioner to go to those elements who talk of the deal and ask them about nature and motives of the alleged deal.
