NTS exam for pharmacy technicians turns a nightmare for students

Secretary Dr Zakaur Rehman says Punjab Pharmacy considering for in-house exams in future

ISLAMABAD: January 8: The future of 65 thousands students of pharmacy technicians is in doldrums as National Testing Services (NTS) cancelled the exam of the paper II at eleventh hours on January 7 last on the assumptions that it was leaked.
A board displayed by NTS at Islamabad centre reads as “ The paper II of pharmacy technicians announced for January 7 (Sunday) stands cancelled’. Although the notice does not cite any reason of it there were reports of leakage of the paper ahead of its start on Sunday. The reports of leakage of the paper of pharmacy technicians speaks of irresponsible and full of faults exam system.

The students were conveyed of the cancellation of the paper by NTS when they had arrived at the exams centres.
The NTS announcement came a shocking development for the students as well as their parents who had come across the Punjab and Islamabad from 500 colleges. The worried students opted for protests against NTS. They held protest rally in Islamabad demanding complete investigations into NTC working for holding exams of pharmacy technicians.

The questions arise why the Punjab Pharmacy Council does not conduct pharmacy technicians and other related exams itself?. Another question one should ask from the Punjab Pharmacy Council who was responsible of leakage of Sunday’s paper and subsequent agony faced by the students and their parents.

Speaking to NEWSMAN from Lahore by phone Dr Zakaur Rehman secretary Punjab Council said NTS cancelled the paper on getting information of its leakage on January 7 (Sunday) and we are in the middle of the meeting to reschedule the paper Ii of the pharmacy technicians. He in response to a query confirmed that Punjab Pharmacy Council was considering for conducting in-house exams of pharmacy technicians. He said “The revival of Punjab Pharmacy is underway and holding pharmacy technicians exams in house is a likelihood”.

He also told this scribe that a meeting was in progress on the issue and a new date for the cancelled paper is being announced shortly.
Dr Zakaur Rehman conceded that the students whose exam was cancelled by NTS on Sunday last were suffering from mental and physical agony. He also released a video message sharing agony that the students suffered due to cancellation of paper II.
