Official report smells role of LHC judge in sugar crisis

LHC particular judge's stay order behind sugar crisis . Punjab govt report

LAHORE : Sept 5 : A report of the caretaker Punjab government has held a judge of the Lahore High Court (LHC) of the current sugar crisis . The report has counted for all the factors which triggered Pakistan’s worst ever sugar crisis. According to the official report a particular judge of LHC is facilitating sugar mafia comprising sugar industry , its touts and dealers for creating the commodity crisis and sell the stocks at irrationally higher rates and make undue profit. The report said the particular judge issued a stay order a month ago which paved for the on-going sugar crisis . A reliable source also.confimed collusion of a judge of LHC with sugar mafia . The sources said the particular judge of LHC manages to take all petitions filed about sugar sector and with no exception gives decisions in favour of the industry. In the last couple of months , the same judge of LHC issued a stay order on the Punjab government decision to ban inter provincial movement of sugar . Then the same judge of LHC also struck down a decision of the Punjab government regarding physical verification of sugar stocks of the mills to make sure that the industry gives reliable statistics of sugar stocks and their off loading in the market. The judge whose conduct is under question in this case noted in his ruling that since the industry operates in a free market mechanism the provincial authorities have no powers to physically verify the sugar stocks at the mills. That court stay orders put the authorities in a fix and provided a legal license to the industry and its touts to act as a mafia and make money through sugar crisis. Another sources told NEWSMAN that the sugar mafia has extorted Rs 100 billion from the people who are already in serious trouble due to killing price-hike. The sugar rates have increased from Rs 130 to Rs 225 in just last two weeks and it seems that the sugar mafia is in a mood to extort the last penny from the people of Pakistan by selling their stocks at their desired rates. Although other provinces are facing the same intensity of sugar crisis, but they are not taking any action like the Punjab against the sugar mafia .
