ISLAMABAD: Smelling rat in joint sitting , the opposition has joined hands to foil the government attempt to get through at least two most controversial bills relating to use of electronic voting machine (EVM) in future elections. The opposition has also identical views on another controversial third amended National Accountability Bureau (NAB) ordinance 2021. The government had introduced amended NAB ordinance 2021 last month to grant extension in service to incumbent chairman, Justice (R), Javed Iqbal.
The opposition in parliament has gathered at one point i e to resist the government’s move to get through important bills for the law making during joint sitting of the parliament.
The government has convened a joint sitting of the parliament for November 11, 2021.
The government may face tough resistance in the parliament in getting through its desired bills for law making as the opposition is united this time to defeat the treasury benches on key bills.
Both the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) and Pakistan People Party (PPP) have advised to their members of the parliament to ensure their presence in joint sitting to defeat the government on controversial bills. PMLN president, Mian Shahbaz Sharif, hosted a dinner for opposition members of the parliament here on Tuesday.
Talking to media at the dinner, PMLN president said the joint opposition was ready to face- off the government on controversial law- making in joint sitting. PPP chairman, Bilawal Bhutto , also spoke to the media on the occasion . He said the opposition will not allow the selected government to get passed any bill that could be against the interest of the people and state of Pakistan.
