PAC summons SCP Registrar for May 16 with last 11 years record

Chairman Noor Alam Khan warns non-compliance of PAC orders will result in issuance of arrest warrants of Registrar

ISLAMABAD: May 3, 2023: The Public Account Committee (PAC) has summoned to the Registrar for May 16, 2023 to present the record of the Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) for last 11 years for audit.
PAC chairman, Noor Alam Khan, while issuing notice to the SCP Registrar observed that non compliance of PAC order could result in issuing of his arrest warrant.
He gave these observations during the proceedings of the case being heard by PAC regarding non- compliance of the committee’s orders by the SCP registrar.

PAC had summoned to the SCP registrar previously also but he did not show up which irked the chairman and other members of the committee.
PAC wants to have audit of the SCP for the period between 2010 and 2021 and it had previously directed to the Register to appear before it with the relevant record.

The Registrar is shy from obeying the PAC orders and staying away from its meeting. He is also not presenting the record of the apex court for the period recorded by PAC probably having the sense that none of the state organs including PAC of the parliament was authorised to direct him to appear and present the record of the apex court.
Chairman, Noor Alam Khan, however, seemed convince d that PAC has full authority to direct any institution or individual no matter it’s the apex court or any other to summon and seek any record if its employees get salary from the national treasury.

On the same basis , he issued directions to the Registrar to appear before the committee on May 16 next or face arrest for non compliance of the orders.
