Like Pakistan, Saudi Arabia has also faced increasing incidents of terrorism and it is reported that these incidents have allegedly involved militants associated with the extremist organizations ‘Daesh’ and ‘Al-Qaeda’.
Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have a history of cooperation in various defense fields, but for the first time, the special forces of the two countries conducted a joint anti-terrorist exercise called ‘Al-Shahab One’.
On October 20, 2015, the forces of Pakistan and Saudi Arabia had started joint military exercises at the “National Counter-Terrorism Centre” at Pabi near Jhelum. These exercises called ‘Al-Shahab One’ continued for twelve days, in which a 57-member contingent of the Saudi Special Forces also participated.

Pakistan Army Public Relations Department (ISPR) said in a statement that Pakistan and Saudi Arabia’s joint counter-terrorism training exercise Al-Batar One has concluded.
The closing ceremony held in Cherat was attended by Saudi Arabian Ambassador Nawaf Saeed Al-Maliki and senior military officials and witnessed the various drills of the last day of the Al Batar One exercise. The two-week long exercise began on August 22, in which combat aviation, including special forces units from both countries, showcased their professionalism. The ceremony concluded with a flypast, the purpose of the Albatar One exercise was to further strengthen the historical military ties between the two brotherly countries by promoting a common concept against terrorism and areas of mutual interest for future military cooperation.
