PANAH demands more tax on tobacco to discourge use, save generation

RAWalPINDI: Pakistan National Heart Association (PANAH) General Secretary and Director Operations Sana Ullah Ghumman said that Tobacco use severely affects health,It is one of the leading causes of various deadly diseases, including heart , various type of cancer.Tax enforcement is an effective means of discouraging it.

A PANAH press release issued here said on Tuesday Sana Ullah Ghumman said that In collaboration with the Department of Health, Research and Policy, Institute of the University of Illinois at Chicago ,The Pakistan Institute of Development Economics (PIDE) conducted economic research on the implementation of tobacco practices, which aimed to reduce tobacco use with the help of tax implementation.

It is painful to hear that Pakistan with 24 million active tobacco users is among the world’s top tobacco-consuming countries. Tobacco use is associated with many adverse health effects,There is no benefit to tobacco use other than harm to human life.It is part of the policy of other countries, including Pakistan, to enforce tobacco practices and generate revenue from it. The more tobacco is taxed, the more discouraged it will be.

He said that Tobacco Use will decrease and our young children will be protected from its deadly effects.If the weaknesses in Pakistan’s tax policy are addressed, So with a significant increase in revenue, and the burden of disease will also decrease.It is also important to identify elements that are reluctant to implement tobacco practices,Because it’s about the health of the younger generation,On which no ruler can ignore . The PANAH Prime Minister Imran Khan will never compromise on the health of his country’s children.
