Pakistan call for end to Islamophobia to create interfaith harmony among people

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has called upon the European Union (EU) to play its role in end Islamophobia among west to bring Mulims and followers of other religion closer.

Pakistan’s minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith harmony,Pir Noorul Haq Qadri, raised the issue of recent attacks on Muslim communities in different western countries with ambassador of EU to Pakistan, Androulla Kaminara, during a meeting with her,

EU ambassador to Pakistan had called on the minister in Islamabad to discuss with him different issues like minorities rights.
The minister apprised the ambassador about the measures taken by Pakistan in recent years to protect and promote the rights of the minorities. He told the ambassador that Pakistan government is putting in place legal framework to ensue that every minority of Pakistan exercises its religion with freedom and in coercion free environment.
Pir Noorul Qadri also gave a detailed view to the ambassador on Pakistan’s efforts being made to protect the rights of women in the society.

He said Islam grants great respects to the women and the government was taking practical steps to ensure that women folk get its legal and constitutional rights without any delay.
The minister also highlighted the issue of Islamophobia and discussed with the ambassador the incidents of recent attacks on Muslim families in western countries and stressed the need of putting an end to Islamophobia to bridge the gap of mistrust between Muslims and followers of other religions.

The ambassador assured the minister that EU will take all possible measures to stop divide among followers of different religions. She is EU is for freedom of speech and respect for each other’s religion.
