ISLAMABAD: As China sends the first batch of vaccine to help Islamabad fight out the pandemic effectively, Pakistan on Monday formally confirmed that second wave of COVID-19 has slowed down .
Dr Faisal Sultan, prime minister’s advisor on Health, told host of a talk show on Monday late night that Pakistan has witnessed quick reduction in positive cases of COVID-19 in recent weeks which was an encouraging sign. The advisor ,however, urged Pakistani nation to keep following the corona related special operating procedures (SoPs) to help the government take effective measures to weed out the virus once for all.
Pakistan is among those lucky countries which have managed to curtail the pandemic without having major loss in terms of financial resources.
Meanwhile, Pakistan has received the first batch of 0.5 million doses of corona vaccine from China.
The vaccination process in Pakistan is going to start from February 3, 2021.
In the first phase, frontline workers ( doctors nurses and paramedics ) are going to get vaccine.
In the second phase, elderly people aging 65 and above will be vaccinated.
Then in third week, Pakistani public will get vaccine dose.
NCOC coordinator and the federal minister, Asad Omar , said in a statement that Pakistan is going to get 17 million more doses from UK by June 2021.
