Pakistan, Czech Republic PMs Discuss Trade, Investment, Climate Cooperation

Shehbaz Sharif also met with Danish Prime Minister

Islamabad, (Newsman): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala on the sidelines of the World Leaders Climate Action Summit in Baku, where they discussed strengthening bilateral ties and addressing global challenges.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Sharif highlighted the long-standing and multifaceted relationship between Pakistan and the Czech Republic, emphasizing the strong cooperation in both bilateral and multilateral arenas.

The two leaders explored opportunities to deepen collaboration, particularly in economic development, with a focus on expanding trade and investment.

Prime Minister Sharif invited Czech businesses to consider investing in Pakistan, leveraging the country’s strategic position as a gateway to Central Asia.

He specifically pointed to key sectors such as energy, technology, and manufacturing as potential areas for cooperation.

The discussion also covered shared concerns regarding regional security and sustainable development, with both leaders recognizing the need for continued joint efforts to address these issues.

Prime Minister Sharif underscored the urgency of tackling climate change, describing it as one of the most pressing global challenges.

Despite Pakistan being one of the countries most vulnerable to its impacts, he reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to advancing environmental sustainability.

The Prime Minister stressed that international collaboration is crucial to mitigate climate risks, promote green energy solutions, and achieve sustainable development goals, highlighting the importance of partnerships with nations like the Czech Republic.

PM Meets Danish Counterpart

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif also met with Danish Prime Minister, Mette Frederiksen, on the sidelines of the COP 29, in Baku, Azerbaijan.

During the meeting, both the leaders discussed bilateral cooperation in multiple domains including trade and investment, agriculture, information technology and climate change.

They also agreed on the need to enhance bilateral cooperation as well as build global consensus on the key climate change priorities so that the planet could be saved from the harmful impacts of climate change.

Referring to 75 years of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Denmark this year, the Danish Prime Minister conveyed her willingness to work with Pakistan for further bolstering bilateral economic ties and addressing regional and global issues of common interest.
