Sharjah : Despite early crumbling , Pakistan, somehow , managed to creep into next phase of Big Four of the Asia T20 Cup 2025 by defeating United Arab Emirates (UAE) in a crucial match here on Wednesday.
Pakistan XI made a total of 146 runs in the inning of 20 allotted overs in the first half of the game . Pakistan had won the toss and opted to bat first.
In early overs, Pakistan’s batters made pathetic show of the game . Both openers failed in early overs, putting Pakistani lineup under pressure. Saim Ayub once again got out at zero. He remained confused as long as he was on the crease. His partner –Sahabzada Farhan also got out when his individual score was only 5 runs. Captain Salman Agha also presented slow game as usual in this T20 game . He seemed perplexed and as usual kept on chewing gum on the crease. He faced 27 balls and scored only 20 runs. He is continously playing slow game in the tournament . His behaviour as batter and captain is a big question mark. After Salman Agha’s dismissal , Fakhar Zaman took the charge . He played a glorious inning of 50 runs and got out in a bid to hit a slow ball.
Pakistan’s middle order also flopped again. None of its middle order players including Mohammad Haris, Mohammad Nawaz and Hasan Nawaz , Khushdil Shah could give any performance with the bat.
Having a target of 147 runs , UAE side also lost three early wickers . Its remaining batters also got out intermittently . They were all out when UAE score in the second last over was 106 . Pakistan won the match by 41 tuns and qualify for the next round of the game. With Wednesday ‘s win , Pakistan booked second position in A group. It will fight against India again on Sunday.
