Riyadh – The Embassy of Pakistan in Saudi Arabia organized a ceremony to commemorate Pakistan Defence Day at the Cultural palace of the diplomatic quarters in Riyadh. The event was graced by the presence of General (Retd) Raheel Sharif, Commander of the Islamic Military Alliance, as the chief guest.
The ceremony was well-attended by officers from the Saudi Armed Forces, foreign diplomats, military personnel, and prominent members of the Pakistani community. Pakistani Ambassador Ahmed Farooq and Military Attaché Brigadier Muhammad Asim, along with other officers, welcomed the guests. The hall resonated with Pakistani national songs throughout the event.
Military Attaché, Brigadier Muhammad Asim, in his speech, highlighted the professional skills of the Pakistan Army and its role in UN peacekeeping missions. He emphasized that the Pakistan Army is always ready to defend the nation and is recognized worldwide for its professionalism. The Pakistani Army, Navy, and Air Force are continuously engaged in defending every inch of the country.
Ambassador Ahmed Farooq, in his address, paid tribute to the martyrs of the September 1965 war, stating that Pakistan’s defence is in strong hands and the army is the pride of the nation. He mentioned that the army has always prioritized national defence without hesitation and has worked for the honour, dignity, and stability of Pakistan. The entire nation takes pride in the Pakistan Army.
The ambassador also spoke about the strong Pakistan-Saudi friendship, noting that relations between the two countries are growing not only at the diplomatic level but also in trade and various other sectors. The military relations between the two nations are also strong and stable, with joint military exercises being conducted for several decades.
During the Pakistan Defence Day ceremony, General (Retd) Raheel Sharif met with foreign guests and members of the Pakistani community.
