Pakistan ease more restrictions as COVID-19 infection rate remains under control

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Wednesday eased some more COVID-19 related restrictions after witnessing less infection rate during the last few days.

National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) announced relaxations for key areas.
It allowed marriage ceremonies with limited number of guests in open air from June 1, 2021. It also allowed opening up of schools with 20 perrcent attendence in areas where infection rate is below 5 percent.

NCOC had allowed resumption of inter city and intera city public transport from May 17, 2021. It also permitted business activities across Pakistan till 8 pm, besides opening up of all types of public and private offices with 50 percent attendence from tomorrow.

Pakistan has witnessed sharp decline in COVID- 19 infection during the last one week due to strict implementation of standard operating procedures (SoPs).

It had called out the military to help civil administeration to put in place strict restrictions like closing down of businesses and all other outdoor activities . Its strategy has worked well to bring down infection rate from 13 to below 5 percent.

These statistics have resulted in relaxing some restrictions for key areas from May 16, 2021.

However, some areas like indoor and outdoor hotelling , religious and social gatherings, wedding ceremonies will remain closed till May 30, 2021.
