ISLAMABAD:  Pakistan coalition government on Thursday announced new petroleum product prices for the upcoming fortnight, increasing the prices of petrol and high-speed diesel.

In contrast, the prices of light diesel and kerosene oil have been reduced. Kerosene oil will now be available at Rs 148.50 per litre, reflecting a decrease of Rs 4.92, while the price of light diesel has dropped by Rs 2.61 to Rs 147.51 per litre.

Earlier, on October 28, there were expectations that petrol prices in Pakistan would decrease further starting November 1, in light of falling global oil prices, which had dropped by $1.50 and $2.50 per barrel, respectively.

Given the current exchange rate and tax rates, the government had anticipated providing relief to the public by reducing petrol prices by Rs 3 and high-speed diesel prices by Rs 2.30 per litre.
