Islamabad : Pakistan civil and military leadership has responded to Indian baseless allegations, giving warning of befitting response to any misadventure from India following Pahalgam attack .
The National Security Committee (NSC) met here on Thursday with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in the chair . It rejected India’s action to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty after the Pahalgam ‘false flag operation’ and announced that stopping Pakistan’s water will be considered as a declaration of war against Pakistan . It noted that any aggression from India will be met with a full response.
Following NSC meeting , Pakistan announced the closure of airspace, border traffic and all types of trade with India, while limiting the diplomatic staff in the Indian High Commission to 30 members and declaring Indian defense, naval and air advisors as persona-non – grata , ordering them to leave Pakistan in 48 hours.
Pakistan also announced to cancel the visas of all Indian citizens currently in Pakistan except Sikh pilgrims and ordered them to leave the country within 48 hours. A statement issued after NSC meeting here said the participants of NSC discussed the national security and regional situation, especially in the context of the Pahalgam attack in Anantnag district of illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir on April 22, 2025.
Expressing concern over the loss of lives of tourists, the committee reviewed the Indian measures announced on April 23, 2025 and termed them as unilateral, unjust, politically motivated, highly irresponsible and devoid of legal merit.
NSC stated that Kashmir is an unresolved dispute between Pakistan and India, which has been recognized by several United Nations resolutions. Pakistan continues to support the right of self-determination of the Kashmiri people.
The statement said that due to the ongoing state repression, abrogation of statehood, political and demographic biases by India, there has been a continuous organic reaction from the people of occupied Kashmir, due to which violence continues.
According to the statement, systematic oppression against minorities, especially Muslims, has become more widespread in India, the attempt to forcefully pass the Waqf Bill is the latest attempt to wall off Muslims across India, India should refrain from the temptation to use such tragic events for its own benefit and should accept full responsibility for its failure to provide security to the people.
The statement said that Pakistan clearly condemns all forms of terrorism, being the world’s leading state against terrorism, Pakistan has suffered immense human and financial losses, Indian efforts to create volatility in the environment on Pakistan’s eastern borders are aimed at diverting Pakistan’s counter-terrorism efforts.
The statement clarified that attempts to link the Pahalgam attack to Pakistan in the absence of any credible investigation and verifiable evidence are baseless, irrational and a reflection of a defeated mentality. The statement said that India’s rotten narrative of victimhood cannot deny its own culpability in fueling terrorism on Pakistani soil, nor can it divert attention from its systematic and state-sponsored atrocities and human rights violations in occupied Kashmir.
It further said that contrary to Indian claims, Pakistan has irrefutable evidence of Indian-sponsored terrorism in Pakistan, including the confession of Commander Kulbhushan Jadhav, a serving officer of the Indian Navy, which is living proof of India’s state-sponsored terrorist activities.
According to the statement, NSC condemned the hidden threat in the Indian statement of April 23, 2025. The committee warned that the international community should be vigilant about India’s state-sponsored killings abroad or attempts on foreign soil. These heinous acts were carried out in clear violation of international law, which has recently been exposed by Pakistan and other countries with irrefutable evidence. The statement made it clear that Pakistan will pursue all perpetrators, planners and criminals equally and ensure the provision of justice. Any threat to the sovereignty of Pakistan and the security of its people will be dealt with strong countermeasures in all sectors. The committee warned that India should refrain from cynically exploiting incidents like Pahalgam to advance its narrow-minded political agenda. Such tactics only serve to inflame tensions and hinder peace and stability in the region. The statement further said that India’s highly irresponsible war mongering by the state-controlled media, fueling regional calculus volatility, is condemnable and needs serious consideration. According to the statement, the committee decided that Pakistan strongly rejects India’s announcement to postpone the Indus Waters Treaty. The treaty is a binding international agreement brokered by the World Bank and does not include any clause for unilateral suspension.
