Islamabad: A study center at China’s Hunan University of Medicine (HNUM) has been established in honor of renowned Pakistani scientist Professor Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Choudhary.
The Hunan University of Medicine (HNUM) hosted a ceremony to inaugurate the newly constructed research building.
The 13,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art building will accommodate 17 full-time researchers committed to promoting scientific cooperation between China and Pakistan.
In 1912, Mr. Yan Fuqing, HNUM, an esteemed medical instructor, founded the university. Over the years, the university has become one of China’s top national public medical universities.

With two campuses, Jinxi and Jinhai, totaling 945,300 square meters, it works under the direction of the Hunan Provincial Department of Education. The institution now has 14,425 full-time students and 4,642 academic members. Twenty undergraduate and graduate medical programs are offered by Hunan University of Medicine (HNUM).
This is the first time a Pakistani scientist has received this recognition from the reputable Chinese university HNUM.
Professor Choudhary has made outstanding contributions to various scientific disciplines. He has been crucial in establishing Sino-Pak research centers and promoting joint initiatives between the two nations’ scientists.
Professor Choudhary has won several distinguished honors, such as the Golden Silkball Friendship Award, the Mustafa (PBUH) Prize, Hilal-e-Imtiaz, Sitara-e-Imtiaz, and Tamgha-e-Imtiaz, and the Friendship Award from China (2022).

A Fellow of several prestigious scientific associations, such as the Academy of Sciences for the Developing World (TWAS) and the Royal Society of Chemistry (London), he is currently the Vice President of TWAS (the World Academy of Sciences) for Central & South Asia.
