Islamabad, November 8, 2025: A joint meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on Law and Justice and the National Assembly Standing Committee on Law and Justice was held today to consider The Constitution (Twenty-Seventh Amendment) Bill, 2025. The meeting was co-chaired by Senator Farooq H. The meeting was convened in pursuance of the Ruling of the Chairman Senate dated 8th November, 2025, and with the permission granted by the Speaker National Assembly under the relevant rules.
Members from both Committees attended the meeting, and it was decided that an extensive and clause-by-clause deliberation and review of the Bill would be undertaken to ensure thorough examination of all its provisions.
Extensive discussions took place during the proceedings. However, Senator Kamran Murtaza and Ms. Alia Kamran, MNA, walked out of the meeting, expressing concern over their party not being taken on board during the consensus-building process. However Ms. Alia Kamran attended the meeting and participated in its proceedings for quite sometime.
