Perpetrators of Jaranwala incident to be brought to justice : COAS

RAWALPINDI: August 20,2023: Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir has said Jaranwala incident has no scope for incidents of intolerance and extreme behavior against minorities.

The Army Chief while addressing the participants of the ISPR Internship Program here on Sunday said that Jaranwala incident is very sad. And is intolerable, the perpetrators of such crimes will be brought to justice. He said that all citizens of Pakistan are equal to each other regardless of religion, gender, caste or creed.

The army chief said that intolerance, mistrust, violent attitudes and efforts of the enemy forces to fuel it continue. The alleged incident of blasphemy in Jaranwala, the agitators burnt 4 churches. He said that there is no room for intolerance against anyone from any section of the society.

The Army Chief mentioned those who spread anarchy, unrest and division among the people in the country and said that no one will be allowed to take the law into their hands.

General Asim Munir said that the youth should understand the difference between truth and half truth, lies and misinformation. He said that the role of youth in national development is very important, youth are the future of Pakistan, youth can play an important role in peace, development and prosperity in the country. 370 students from all over Pakistan participated in the internship program.

In Jaranwala, the most important progress has been made in the investigation of the heinous incident of attacks on Christian population, churches, government property, arson, and horrific revelations have come to light, he said.
