Peshawar: Four police personnel injured in IED blast targeting patrol vehicle

PESHAWAR – A police mobile came under attack in Peshawar’s Bhana Mari police station limits when an improvised explosive device (IED) went off near Qamar Din Chowk, leaving four policemen injured.

According to police officials, the injured personnel were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital where they are receiving medical treatment.

Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Peshawar, Dr. Mian Saeed Ahmed, confirmed the incident, stating that the police mobile was on a routine patrol when the explosion occurred.

Following the blast, a heavy contingent of police and security forces rushed to the site, cordoned off the area, and launched a search operation.A bomb disposal squad was also called in to collect evidence and determine the exact nature of the explosion.

Initial reports suggest that the device was detonated using a remote-control mechanism.However, officials said the final findings will be shared once investigations are completed.

In recent weeks, Peshawar has witnessed a surge in attacks targeting police and security forces, prompting law enforcement agencies to tighten security measures and intensify patrolling across the city.
