PM counts government successes, opposition belies claims

ISLAMABAD: Prime minister, Imran Khan, counted successes of his government’s first three years in his address to the nation on Thursday.

In his televised address , Imran Khan, claimed Pakistan was moving foward as a result of better policies of his government.

The prime minister presented a long list of successes with statistics to make the people trust in his claims.

The prime minister ‘s address to the nation was to celeberate completion of his government’s first three years.

The prime minister said during the last three years his government took many hard decisions like reducing subsidies on utilities which added pressure on the low income group and daily wagers, but such hard decisions were inevitable to bring the stagnant economy back into growth mode. He said Pakistan was moving back in industrialisation era, besides addressing long delayed serious issues like enhancing exports, cutting down unnecessary imports, realising untapped potential of agriculture sector to enhance its output. He claimed that Pakistan industrial growth has increased by 18 % since coming in of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) government in 2018. He also presented increase in sale of motorbikes, cars, tractors and other small vehicles as an indication of growth in the national economy. He said his government was focusing on export led strategy to increase Pakistan’s share in global trade.
He cited performance of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) , anti corruption department of Punjab, Khyber Pukhtunkhaw (KPK) and Balochistan in support his claims .

Imran Khan claimed reduction in corruption in his rule and also lashed out at his political opponents, claiming the past rulers were untouchables as long as they were in power.
He said ” Asif Ali Zardari was not touchable despite plundering the national resources as state organs were weak in those days”.
He also targetted Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) leadership for its alleged mega corruption in the country.

Imran Khan claimed that the country gets weak when the prime minister and his ministers indulge themselves in corruption. The prime minister said today everyone was under the same law and it was a big success of his government.
He said the journey of progress and prosperity has begun in the country and the people would reap its benefits soon.

The opposition chided the prime minister’s claims and called his narrative of “Growing and moving foward claims” as an illusion. PPP chairman , Balawal Bhutto, in his reaction on the prime minister’s speech said: The whole episode was a bundle of lies . He said PTI has litterally turned the country into a hell for the people.

In its reaction , the PML N said the prime minister had nothing to present to the people of Pakistan except to lie again and again. Maryam Aurangzeb in her statement said Alas Imran Khan had spoken truth to the nation and told them why the prices of edibles, medicines and utilities rates have increased 100 % in the PTI rule.
