ISLAMABAD: Encircled by the grand opposition, prime minister, Imran Khan, has finally agreed to remove his Wasim Akram Plus’ Sardar Usamn Buzdar as chief minister Punjab.
“We have been told by the prime minister that he would remove Sardar Usman Buzdar as chief executive of Punjab . However the prime minister will implement his decision soon after surviving the no confidence motion moved by the opposition to de-seat him as chief executive of the country” a Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) parliament member told NEWSMAN requested not to be named .
The prime minister will announce removal of Buzdar , the party parliamentary member added.
The joint opposition had tabled its no confidence motion against the prime minister and its waiting for summoning of the national assembly session for debate and voting on its motion.
Jahanagir Tareen group, claimant of having support of 40 members of the Punjab assembly and almost half a dozen members of the national assembly of the ruling party, has demanded removal of Usman Buzdar to help the prime minister foil the opposition’s no confidence motion. The leaders of the Jahangir Tareen group have publically demanded announced not to attend any party meeting as long as Sardar Usman Buzdar was the chief minister Punjab. Sardar Usman Buzdar had taken over as chief minister Punjab in 2018 and since then he is facing criticism from difference quarters including his own party. He is also facing serious charges of corruption. A day before, Pakistan People Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, had leveled serious allegations of corruption against Pakistan first lady, Bushra Bibi. He had claimed in his last public outburst that first lady Bushra Bibi was involved in making money through transfers /postings in Punjab. Although the spokespersons of the Federal government had not only rejected these allegations of corruption against the first lady, but also demanded of the opposition to give proof in favour of its allegations.
Independent media also charges Sardar Usman Buzdar of corruption, besides nepotism in the government affairs.
Prime minister, Imran Khan , had firm stance vis a vis allegations of corruption against Sardar Usman Buzdar and at least one of his close family friends known in media as his front man. He snubbed all voices against Sardar Usman in the last three and half years. He also ignored calls made by different quarters of poor governance in Punjab. Now when damage already has been done and an experience of controlling Punjab through a weak man has failed, the prime minister has finally agreed to remove Sardar Usman Buzdar titled by him as ‘Wasim Akram Plus’ primarily to save his own rule.
