ISLAMABAD, September 3, 2026: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday chaired a high-level review meeting on the construction of the proposed Jinnah Medical Complex & Research Centre and the Federal Government Polyclinic Phase-II Extension, directing authorities to accelerate healthcare reforms and ensure early completion of the project.
“Providing quality healthcare facilities to the people is the government’s foremost priority,” the prime minister said, stressing the need to accelerate the ongoing reform process in the health sector.
During the meeting, officials presented various architectural designs and proposals for the proposed Jinnah Medical Complex & Research Centre. The prime minister was also briefed on the progress of construction work on the Federal Government Polyclinic Phase-II Extension.
The meeting decided that the under-construction Federal Government Polyclinic Extension in Sector G-11 would serve as the first phase of the Jinnah Medical Complex, enabling the facility to become operational at the earliest and provide quality healthcare services to citizens.
Prime Minister Shehbaz directed that the first phase of the Jinnah Medical Complex be completed by March 2027, calling for all possible measures to transform it into a modern, state-of-the-art healthcare facility.
He also stressed the installation of modern, high-tech medical equipment and machinery, saying that the hospital should be equipped with facilities capable of meeting contemporary healthcare requirements.
To ensure transparency, quality and adherence to prescribed standards, the prime minister directed that third-party validation of the project should continue alongside its implementation.
The meeting was attended by Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Khan Cheema, Federal Minister for National Health Services Syed Mustafa Kamal, Federal Minister for Power Division Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari, and other senior government officials concerned.
