ISLAMABAD, October 17, 2024: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif welcomed the Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), Mr. Zhang Ming, as he arrived for the SCO Council of Heads of Government (CHG) meeting.
During their meeting, the Prime Minister recalled Mr. Ming’s previous visit to Pakistan in July 2022 and expressed gratitude for the support provided by the SCO Secretariat in organizing the CHG meeting.
Prime Minister Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to the SCO Charter and emphasized the nation’s dedication to advancing the organization’s development priorities for the benefit of all member states and the wider region.
He highlighted Pakistan’s readiness to work collaboratively with SCO member states to enhance the organization’s effectiveness.
The Prime Minister also extended his thanks to Mr. Ming for his dedicated service as the outgoing Secretary-General of the SCO and wished him success in his future endeavors.
In response, Mr. Ming congratulated Pakistan on successfully hosting the SCO CHG meeting and commended the country’s constructive contributions to the organization’s activities, expressing satisfaction with Pakistan’s leadership role as the current chair.
