Lahore :The ruling Pakistan Muslim League (PML- N) is leading in by – elections held on Sunday in two constituencies.
PMLN ‘s candidate , Asad Hanif Jatt , has won in PA 203 Sahiwal-6 election by bagging 42411 votes. He opponent , Awais Mahmood Gujar of Pakistan Ihsas Tehreek got 25201 votes .
PML N candidate Rashid Bashir Virk, is leading in NA 77 Gujranwala-1 . As per initial results complied from 200 polling stations , Rashid Bashir Virk is leading with 36946 votes. Mohammad Ibrahim of Pakistan Markazi Muslim League is runner – up in NA – 77 Gujranwala-1 is second in the election race with 25863 votes.
Both seats NA -77 Gunranwala -1 and PA 203 Sahiwal -6 had got vacant due to demise of PMLN elected members . PMLN Bashir Virk had won from NA 77 Gujranwala – 1 in 2023 elections and he had died a few months ago . Similarly , PMLN ‘s Hanif Jutt had won from PA -203 Sahiwal -6 in the last general elections and he had also died recently and the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had announced by elections in both constituencies.
Prime minister , Shahbaz Sharif , expressed satisfaction that the voters opted to vote for PMLN in by elections held in Shaiwal and Gujranwala for provincial Assembly of the Punjab and National Assembly respectively. The prime minister in his statement termed the win of the PML-N as a confidence in the policies of the government. Shahbaz Sharif also appreciated the ECP for holding peaceful and transparent elections in Sahiwal and Gujranwala.
