This article originates from the peaceful Mahsher Hut on 15th June 2023 , situated on the banks of the Swat River, where a significant conflict between British forces and local tribes took place in 1897. The Churchill post, overlooking this serene location, offers a glimpse into the past, where Winston Churchill may have witnessed the juxtaposition of serenity and the aftermath of the brutal “Great Game” massacre, perpetually haunting the local population . Unfortunately, to this day, blood continues to be spilled in this region without any discernible cause or justification.
I dedicate this post to him as the loving and dutiful son of my dear friend. Honourable Capt. Abdul Majeed Niazi a, nother seasoned Senior Officer and former Information Secretary .. Zubair, as former Deputy Commissioner was kind to play his role to book this Hut, though we never met in person.
This beautiful hut was built at a significant junction way back in 1994, that serves as the gateway to Swat, Dir, Bajaur and Chitral which falls under the administrative control of the Deputy Commissioner of Lower Dir. Regrettably, due to a lack of respect and negligence towards public property, this lodge remains closely guarded to protect both its movable and immovable households against people with least civic sense .
Although some may suspect my ulterior motives behind my dedication to Zubair as his appeasement or glorification , yet it stems genuinely from heart once impressed with the overwhelming support and admiration the people of Lower Dir demonstrated when they took to the streets to protest his transfer as Deputy Commissioner. His commitment to public service and his open-door policy, accompanied by genuine care for the welfare of his fellow citizens, earned him their utmost love and trust for which the state of Pakistan bestowed upon him the most coveted prize of OSD ( Officer with no duty) ,
Coincidentally, Capt. Zubair Niazi is currently in Nepal, while the Ambassador of Nepal, H.E. Mr. Tapas Adhikari, visits Swat to pay tribute to Prince Adnan Aurangzeb grave for his remarkable efforts in preserving and promoting the sacred religious sites associated with Prince Siddhartha of Nepal resonate deeply. Prince Siddhartha famously abandoned his kingdom and family one night, embarking on a spiritual journey that culminated in his attainment of Nirvana (enlightenment) after months of fasting, which reduced his once robust physique to a mere skeleton. Later known as Mahatma , his teachings and the religion of Buddhism thrived for centuries, becoming a prominent faith in Swat, then known as Udyana. Although names and religions have evolved over time, the most disheartening change witnessed today in this breathtaking region is the transformation of humans into inhumane beings. In this land, bestowed upon us by the Almighty Allah, we should be grateful for the gift of diversity, embracing social, cultural, racial, and religious differences rather than fostering hate.
Contemplating the enduring influence of those who rule hearts versus those who govern bodies through suppression and oppression, one cannot help but marvel at the former. Throughout history, individuals who have captured the hearts of people have left a lasting legacy, while those who rely solely on their authoritarian power fade into obscurity. As I seek solace in the loving company of my beloved mother and daughter amid the serenity of this historic geography, my thoughts turn to my fellow countrymen, particularly the residents of Karachi. They endure a perpetual state of fear, awaiting imminent calamities. It is with heartfelt prayers that we wish for their safety and peace, holding them close to our hearts.
In a world marred by a troubled history, we yearn for peace and serenity. It is within our power to shape a better future, one where gratitude triumphs over hate, and diversity is celebrated. Let us draw inspiration from the past, embrace the teachings of enlightened individuals, and work towards a world where ruling hearts is valued over ruling bodies. May tranquility prevail, not only on the shores of Karachi but throughout our beloved Pakistan. Long Live Pakistan A Beautiful Land Of The Beautiful People In The Hands Of Worst People. . 🇵🇰
