ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), the party led by jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan, has congratulated Donald Trump on his historic victory in the 2024 U.S. presidential election.
The PTI posted a message on its official X (formerly Twitter) account to celebrate Trump’s win, tagging President-elect Donald Trump and Vice President-elect JD Vance. Trump defeated Democratic candidate Kamala Harris, securing 277 electoral votes compared to Harris’s 226.
In its message, PTI highlighted the contrast between the U.S. electoral process and Pakistan’s political situation, stating, “The people have spoken, and their mandate has been respected—something starkly different from Pakistan, where the public’s mandate was blatantly stolen.”

Senior PTI leader and former President Arif Alvi also sent a personal letter to Trump, recalling a message he had written in July condemning the assassination attempt on Trump. Alvi praised the integrity of the U.S. electoral system and emphasized the importance of free and fair elections, which he said allowed American citizens to freely express their will and pursue their dreams under Trump’s leadership.
“We look forward to continued cooperation as democratic nations,” Alvi wrote, expressing hope that Trump’s victory would send a strong message to authoritarian leaders worldwide.

PTI leader Zulfi Bukhari, speaking on behalf of the party and Imran Khan, described Trump’s victory as a triumph over significant challenges, calling it “a powerful statement from those who felt marginalized, a call for transformative change and economic stability.”
