PTI infighting sets for final showdown

LAHORE: Infighting among Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) ranks took a new turn on Friday when the party issued notice to Aun Chaudhary , a Lahore- based old party face once considered the most trusted guy of party top leader … prime minister, Imran Khan, to resign as advisor to chief minister Punjab.

The reason behind party action and seeking resignation from Aun Chaudhary as advisor to chief minister Punjab seems his decision to side with Tareen group when Jahangir Khan Tareen had developed differences with the party top leadership on some issues still a mystry.

Aun Chaudhary was not comfortable with the party firstline leadership soon after 2018 elections. He was made to face embarassing situation at Banii Gala in early days of PTI consultations to form government after winning 2018 elections.

As a close confident of Imran Khan, Aun Chaudhary might have not expected that one day he will be asked to stay out of Imran Khan’s residence where senior party leaders were busy in naming the party office bearers, besides deciding the formation of the government in the centre, KPK and Punjab.

Disappointed with such humiliating attitude , Aun Chaudhary decided to be a part of Tareen group in the first round of party infighting.

Although, PTI did not take any action against any party member who stood with Jahangir Tareen. Perhaps that was not proper time for such punitive actions and the government needed support of Tareen group in parliament.

But now when PTI government has won elections in Gilgit Baltistan and Azad Kashmir and it feels free to take on Tareen group it first expelled Nazir Chauhan from the party and in the second step it has asked Aun Chaudhary to resign from his current position.

The party action against Tareen group is indicative of bad time for Jahangir Tareen and all his supporters in coming days.
