PTI leader Aysia Azeem presents four bills for crucial amendments in National Assembly

ISLAMABAD : April 20, 2023: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and member National Assembly , Asyia Azeem , has introduced very important amendments in existing Acts for improvement in the specific areas. These bills once approved by the National Assembly and Senate and consented by the president of Pakistan would have significant impact for improvement in relating areas. The proposed amendments seek improvement in Pakistan Penal Code, Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS). A bill has been introduced in the National Assembly for payment of remuneration to law officers to be engaged by the office of Advocate General of Pakistan for their services to the state of Pakistan in the federal capital territory.

Ms Asyia Azeem also tabled a bill for amendment in Pakistan Penal Code to discourage filing of frivolous complaints and First Information Reports (FIRs), and have a check on setting personal scores against some selected individuals through frivolous cases in different courts in the past . She has introduced a bill for an amendment in Pakistan Penal Code titled as Pakistan Penal Code (Amendment) Act 2023.

It said “A new section “ 462 –FA , cognizance : (1): The court shall try an offence punishable under this chapter.
(2) Notwithstanding anything contained in the Code of Criminal Procedure , 1898 or any other law for the time being to force , the Court shall not take cognizance under this chapter except on a complaint made, with reasons to be recorded in writing along with full particulars of the offence committed under this chapter , by a duly authorised officer not below BPS-17 of the government or the distribution company , as the case may be” .

She also introduced a bill for amendment in Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) . The purpose and object of the bill is to make PRCS operations more effective and quick for real time response to any natural or man-made disaster.

The statement of objects and reasons states that Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) is a statutory body and its constituted under the PRCS Act 1920 to provide for the future administration of the various monies and gifts received from the public for the purposes of medical and other aid to the sick and wounded and other purposes of a like nature. It added due to important role of PRCS in disaster relief and rehabilitation and considering the ever-expanding role of the society in view of the sharp increase in natural and man-made disasters across Pakistan , there is a need to bring the organization in shape to meet the emerging challenges to bring the new ideas for effectiveness of PRCS a new legislation is need to be initiated. Therefore a bill for the new legislation in this regard is being tabled for amendment to repeal the existing Act and bring in a new Act to achieve the objects of making PRCS more effective and quick responsive.
