PTI Leaders and Workers Arrested in Punjab

 

LAHORE, November 24, 2024: As Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) prepares for protests in Islamabad, authorities have launched a crackdown, arresting key party leaders and several workers.

Among those detained are National Assembly members Amir Dogar, Zain Qureshi, and Moeen Riaz. Dogar was apprehended while traveling to Islamabad, though his current whereabouts remain unknown.

Rai Hassan Nawaz Khan, an MNA from Chichawatni, was arrested at a checkpoint on the bypass. In Multan, a preemptive operation led to the arrest of Zahid Hashmi, the son-in-law of PTI leader Javed Hashmi, along with numerous other party workers.

Authorities also raided the home of Senator Aun Abbas Bappi, taking six of his employees into custody.

Farukh Javed Moon was arrested at Jinnah Hospital, and 13 PTI supporters were detained near Faizabad in Islamabad.

Police officials have stated that the arrests were made due to concerns over potential threats to public order, claiming that those detained were either participating in or planning to take part in the upcoming protests.
