ISLAMABAD: October 7, 2022: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) chief coordinator and close relative of deposed prime minister Imran Khan, Senator Saifullah Khan Niazi, here on Friday.
Saifullah Khan Niazi’s arrest ahead of PTI’s possible call for march on Islamabad to press the government for early elections in the country is of extra ordinary significance . His arrest is a loud and clear message to PTI that it will see zero tolerance from the federal government in case it decided to march on Islamabad for pressing the government to accept its demands particularly of early general elections in the country.
Saifullah Khan Niazi is chief coordinator of the PTI and he is considered very close political aide to Imran Khan. He is also a close relative to the deposed prime minister .
Saifullah Khan Niazi arrest can be seen in two contexts. One his arrest could be in connection with Shahbaz Gill’s case wherein Mr Gill is on bail in alleged making an attempt to divide lower ranks of the armed forces.
Saifullah Khan Niazi was on the radar of the investigators in Shahbaz Gill’s case. His house was raided in Islamabad when Shahbaz Gill was in custody of the police for investigation in anti state remarks’ case.
The police had taken away Saifullah Khan Niazi’s cell no and lab top to check his alleged link with Shahbaz Gill in anti state remarks . However, the police had not arrested to Saifullah Khan Niazi in those days.
His arrest on Friday by FIA could create serious problem for PTI and its chairman Imran Khan.
In a separate development, FIA also arrested Hamid Zaman, a PTI leader from Lahore on Friday morning. Mr Zaman was arrested from his office in the morning on Friday.
