Punjab Tests Artificial Rain to Combat Smog

Islamabad, (Newsman): To tackle smog and mitigate its harmful effects, the Punjab government, in collaboration with experts from the Pakistan Army’s research and development team conducted an experimental artificial rain operation on Friday.

Pakistan Army Aviation, the Meteorological Department, and the Environment Protection Agency also collaborated in the first domestic artificial rain.

The experiment targeted the Pothwar region, including areas like Fateh Jang, Chakwal, Gujar Khan, Jhelum, and parts of Central Punjab such as Sargodha, Faisalabad, Nankana Sahib, Jaranwala, Lahore, Gujranwala, and Gujrat.

Researchers successfully tested a new chemical composition for artificial rain, drawing on insights from the Meteorological Department. The solution was dispersed into clouds at various altitudes using advanced technology.

The results were promising, showing significant effects on cloud formation and weather patterns. Within 12 hours, the experiment led to a noticeable reduction in smog and rain suppression, marking a major step forward in atmospheric intervention research.
