Ronaldo Hints at Retirement

Lisbon (Newsman): Portugal’s iconic footballer Cristiano Ronaldo has shared insights into his retirement plans following Portugal’s resounding 5-1 victory over Poland in the Nations League quarter-final qualifier.

The victory marked Ronaldo’s 132nd international win, surpassing his former Real Madrid teammate Sergio Ramos, who holds 131 victories for Spain.

Speaking to the media after the match, the 39-year-old five-time Ballon d’Or winner reflected on his career and potential retirement. “I just want to enjoy myself. If retirement has to happen, it could be in a year or two. I’m going to be 40 soon,” Ronaldo said.

He emphasized his passion for the game, stating he would continue playing as long as he enjoyed it. “The day I lose the passion, I will retire,” he remarked.

Ronaldo also revealed that he has no plans to transition into coaching or team management post-retirement. “It’s not in my plans to become a team manager. My future lies in other fields outside of football, and time will reveal what happens,” he said.

In a previous interview in August, Ronaldo indicated he wasn’t considering early retirement, despite his contract with Saudi club Al-Nassr concluding after this season.
