ISLAMABAD : July 25, 2022.: The ruling alliance has boycotted proceedings of the Supreme Court’s proceedings in Punjab assembly case.

The Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) leadership including Jamiat Ulema Islam Fazal (JUI) , Maulana Fazal Ur Rehman, Pakistan People Party (PPP) chairman , Bilawal Bhutto, Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) leaders , Shahid Khan Khaqan Abbasi, Ahsin Iqbal and other leaders announced to boycott proceedings of the case at a hurriedly called press conference held at Prime Minister House.

These leaders announced that their lawyers will not appear before 3-member bench.

During Monday’s proceedings , the government side had announced that it will boycott the proceedings of the Supreme Court of Pakistan if its demand for forming a full court for hearing of the case of the ruling given by deputy speaker , Dost Mohammad Mazari on the day of election of the chief minister Punjab , was not entertained.

Speaking to the media outside the Supreme Court of Pakistan here on Monday , Interior minister, Rana Sanaullah, who was flanked by Law minister , Azam Nazir Tarar and Law minister of Punjab, Atta Tarar, told a questionnaire that it was a consensus decision of the entire collation that in case the top court rejects its demand for making a full court to the case in question it will boycott its further proceedings .

Rana Sanaullah said Hamza Shahbaz , chief minister in charge, will not be a party to the case if our request for full court was rejected.
He was asked if it was a threat to the apex court to which Rana Sanaullah and Azam NazirTarar denied and said the collation respect the courts and there was no question of giving any threat to SCP, but added that since the case in question was of extra ordinary importance it was humble request to the apex court that it should form a full court to hear the case .

Top leaders of the ruling collation had held a joint press conference in the morning on Monday ahead of resumption of hearing into the case and demanded of the SCP to form a full bench to decide the matter. These leaders had expressed serious reservation over the bench currently hearing the case and categorically made it clear that they have some concern over 3-member bench hearing the case as at least two judges sitting in the bench have a history of giving decisions against the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN).

The collation parties leaders quoted the decision of apex court in Panama Papers and awarding harsh punishment to Mian Nawaz Sharif.

Rana Sanaullah also repeated the same arguments at the press conference held in the afternoon and demanded that the judges which were on the bench which awarded sentence to PMLN supremo, Mian Nawaz Sharif, should not hear the case under trial. He said the ruling coalition will not become a party to any situation which could arise out of decision given by the current bench hearing the case.
