Islamabad : Following the most horrifying decision of increasing the oil prices 100 % more than the real impact of the ME war, the entire government junta rushed Friday to the media shows to defend “Mischievous” move of the Shahbaz government.
The entire Shahbaz cabinet members, advisors and some senior officials appeared in the local electronic media shows on Friday to try to convince to the aggrieved public at large in Pakistan that the government had no other option , but to upload that much increase in the oil prices to save the country from potential financial collapse.
From Defence minister, Khawaja Asif , to Rana Sana and Petroleum minister , Ali Pervez Malik, who is continuously giving misleading statistics of the Brent prices since began of the ME war, were seen making all out efforts in the media shows to convince to the hard hit masses that Thursday’s big increase in the oil prices was the fall out of the ME war only.
Many of the top defenders of the Shahbaz rule either were not updated on the breakup of the increase in the oil prices or they intentionally tried to mislead the masses on the mischief move done by their government for jacking up the oil prices.
Rana Sanaullah , who mostly remains within the facts in his media talks , did slip on the issue of the increase in the oil prices. He told a TV presenter on Friday that the government had no role in the last increase in the oil prices and this anti people decision was just the fall out of the on-going ME war.
Khawaja Asif also gave the similar justifications for unbearable increase in the oil prices in his media statement. He claimed that the government uploaded the oil prices to save the economic stability of the country. Petroleum minister , Ali Pervez , as usual spoke like a robot on the issue to present himself as the most intelligent member of the ruling elite on the issue. Punjab Chief minister , Maryam Nawaz Bibi, also jumped as usual on the boat of his uncle to defend the decision of unbearable increase in the oil prices .
Despite all out efforts of the ruling elite , there seems no success to it to persuade the people of Pakistan that the government decision of increasing petrol by Rs 137.41 and diesel by Rs 184.35 per liter was unavoidable.
The people of Pakistan are in the most difficult situation due to the government policies. They are in deep financial crunch and were not in a position to bear such a big increase in the oil prices . The government decision of jacking -up the oil prices in such a big way has exposed the low income group and middle class of the society to unbearable financial burden.
It appears that the masses who are in the shock over recent government move and may turn to the opposition protest to force government not to use the ME war as an opportunity to earn revenue from the sale of petroleum products.
