SBP on path to major financing share for women: Deputy Governor Saleem Ullah

Islamabad : State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) Deputy Governor , Saleem Ullah , on Wednesday informed a session of Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) that the central bank was taking extraordinary measures to ensure women participation in its own ranks as well as Pakistan ‘s banking sector.

SDPI Executive Director , Dr Abid Sulehri , presided over the key session of 4-day annual conference. SDPI conference provides an effective platform to the stakeholders of key sectors of Pakistan’s economy to deliberate on important issues and come up with workable solutions.

The outcome of debates that are held at SDPI annual conference are used for the future government policies. In practical terms , SDPI serves as a bridge between the government and private sector to understand each other ‘s position and find out some common ground to move forward.

SBP Deputy Governor told a questioner that as a result of SBP’s policies , financing for women has increase to 18 percent and it will will reach to targeted 40 % by 2028. To make his argument more meaningful ,

SBP Deputy Governor , Saleem Ullah , noted that SBP has included a group of 50 officers in its ranks recently.
