Islamabad : April 1,2024: After strong opposition of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) , Justice (Retd ) , Tasadiq Jilani , has declined to head the inquiry commission constituted by the government to probe the letter of six judges of Islamabad High Court (IHC) wherein they claimed of meddling of the agencies in the court affairs. Justice (Retd) Tasadiq Jilani , conveyed his non availablity to lead to the inquiry commission through a letter addressed to the prime minister , Shahbaz Sharif . The prime minister had constituted the inquiry commission a couple of days ago to probe the matter raised in the latter by six judges of IHC . The aggrieved judges of IHC had levelled serious accusations on the spy agencies and claimed in their letter addressed to chief justice of Pakistan (CJP) , Qazi Faez Isa, that they were facing intimidation and harassment from spy agencies during dispensation of justice. After meeting with CJP, prime minister , Shahbaz Sharif , constituted the inquiry commission and appointed justice (Retd ) Tasadiq Jilani as its chief. Soon after formation of tne inquiry commission and appointment of Justice (Retd) Tasadiq Jilani as its head , PTI confronted the government decision. PTI leaders including Barrister Gohar Khan , held conferences on daily basis to oppose the inquiry commission and they demanded that a judicial commission be formed with a sitting judge of the Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) its head to probe the matter in depth. PTI leaders were unanimous that their party has serious objection to the government move of forming the inquiry commission led by Justice (Retd) Tasadiq Jilani to probe the issue.
Later , talking to a local TV channel , Tasadiq Jilani said he had reservations over ToRs of the commission and for the.same he declined to lead the inquiry commission. He added that formation of the inquiry commission on a matter brought to the notice of CJP by six judges of ICH is inappropriate. In a related development , SCP has taken a suo moto on the issue and appointed a larger bench to hear the case of six judges of IHC .
According to SCP handout issued here on Monday, the larger bench headed by CJP , Qazi Faez Isa , will hear the case fixed for April 4,2024.
