Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Senator Ejaz Chaudhry Indicted in Race Course Case

LAHORE, November 18, 2024: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Senator Ejaz Chaudhry, and 19 other individuals were indicted in the Race Course case during a jail trial at Kot Lakhpat Jail on Monday.

The hearing, presided over by a special judge of the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC), also saw charges formally framed against former Punjab Governor Umar Sarfraz Cheema, along with several other key accused in the case.

The Race Course case involves allegations of violence and unrest linked to political protests. While the specific charges against the accused were not disclosed during Monday’s proceedings, the indictment marks an important development in the trial.

The court has now ordered witnesses to testify in the upcoming hearings, signaling the start of a more evidence-driven phase in the case.
