ISLAMABAD : Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) chief , has taken oath here on Monday as 23rd prime minister of Pakistan. Acting president , chairman administrated the oath. The national assembly on Monday elected Shahbaz Sharif new prime minister of Pakistan . He got 174 votes to win the election for the prime minister . His opponent , Shah Mahmood Qureshi, got no vote. Shah Mahmood Qureshi’s party had boycotted the election of the prime minister.
Newly elected prime minister, Shahbaz Sharif, in his maiden address to the national assembly here on Monday ordered holding of in camera session of parliamentary security committee for in camera briefing on the ‘controversial ‘threat letter’. The military leadership and ambassador , Asad Majid Khan , who is central character of the conspiracy letter will attend the in camera briefing .
Shahbaz Sharif thanked the leadership of Pakistan People Party (PPP) and other allied parties for supporting him to become the prime minister. Shahbaz Sharif on the outset of his address said those who had come into power through a “Jurloo” have been sent home package . He said the Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) leadership and ousted prime minister committed a fraud at par with the Pakistani nation in the name of a threat letter’ from the US . He ordered to have an in camera briefing to a parliamentary committee on the so called threat letter’. Shahbaz Sharif said ” The nation should have complete facts on the letter used by Imran Khan to bluff the nation”. He ordered that director general Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) to attend the in camera briefing on the threat letter’.
Shahbaz Sharif explained that Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) and PPP leadership had decided to use option of no confidence to over throw Imran Khan from power. He chided Imran Khan for his claim that his government was voted out as a plan of US sponsored conspiracy . He offered to resign as prime minister if any link surfaces between no confidence and US support to then opposition alliance .
He said with coming in of an elected government. dollar has shed Rs 8 vis a vis dollar and it show a positive trend for our national economy.
The prime minister announced 10 % increase in pensions 10 % increase for those government employees whose salary was less than one lakh . He also raised minimum wages to Rs 25000/. a month. He also announced to re introduce Benazir Card for financial assistance to down trodden. Shahbaz Sharif said outgoing prime minister anti Europe and US statements and announced that his government will re-establish good relationship with all international players including US and Europe . He offered dialogue to India to resolve Kashmir issue.
